Pollfossen
is a waterfall whom is stretching over a length of nearly 1 km. and is
feeded with water
from
Breidalsvannet and Maråi. Øvre Otta is a total of water way’s
from the high mountains to
the
river Lågen in Otta.
South
of us are the tops of the mountain range Jotunheimen, in the west the
Fjord area from
Jostedalsbreen
and Vestlandet.
This area has the lowest amount of rainfall of this country and
the
air is dry and rich of ozon. That’s why this place is good for
people with asthmas and other
allergy’s.
Billingsdalen
is a water rich forest landscape with lots of history. Interesting
archaeological
founds witnessed the fact of lots activity’s in the prehistory. The
changing terrain
offers
many opportunity’s for hiking or biking in the summer as during the
winter period.
Pollfoss
is the perfect place for day tours and long hikes over the Skridulaupen
or Jotunheimen
plateau.
The
summer ski centre of Stryn near the old gravel road is just 35 kms. from
here.
Other
highlights are nearby as Galdhøppigen, Sognefjellet, Dalsnibba,
Geiranger, Loen and Olden
This
natural area is owned by Skjåk Almenning, and is a eldorado for hunting
and fishing.
The
front side of our hotel is bordered to Reinheimen Nat. Park
witch is famous for the wild
population
of Caribou.
Inside
this forest you might see Dear or Moose whom are hunted in September and
October.
And
the month’s August and September is the time to find al kind of
berry’s and mushrooms.
